What we collect, why we collect it and how Saltwood looks after your information.
Template text for demonstration. Please have it reviewed by a qualified adviser for your jurisdiction before going live.
Who we are
Saltwood operates 3 restaurants and this website. When we say “we”, “us” or “our” we mean Saltwood, the business responsible for your personal information. If you have any questions about this policy, email hello@saltwood.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to look after you:
- Bookings: your name, email, phone number, party size, date and any notes such as dietary requirements or a celebration.
- Orders: contact details, delivery address, what you ordered and payment confirmation (card details are handled by our payment provider, never stored by us).
- Gift cards: buyer and recipient names, emails and any personal message.
- Enquiries and applications: whatever you choose to share in a contact form, private dining request or job application.
- Website use: basic technical information such as device type and pages visited, collected through essential and, with your consent, analytics cookies.
How we use it
- To confirm, manage and remind you about bookings and orders.
- To prepare food safely when you tell us about allergies or dietary needs.
- To reply to messages, plan events and assess job applications.
- To send our newsletter, only if you have signed up. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To keep our website secure and understand how to improve it.
Why we're allowed to
We process personal information to fulfil a booking or order you have asked for, because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our restaurants, to meet legal obligations such as food safety and tax records, and, for marketing, because you have given consent. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run Saltwood, such as our booking system, payment processor, delivery partners, email service and website host, and only as much as they need. They must keep it secure and use it solely on our behalf. We may also share information where the law requires it.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep the site working, for example remembering what is in your order. We use analytics cookies only if you agree to them, and you can change your mind at any time in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and order records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet accounting and legal requirements, then delete or anonymise them. Job applications are kept for up to six months unless you ask us to keep them longer. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for a copy in a portable format. To make a request, email hello@saltwood.co.uk. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Keeping it safe
We use sensible technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls and working only with providers who meet recognised security standards.
Children
Our website and services are not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Bookings for families should be made by a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
